Stable isotope tracers site

This is the website of the Special Interest Group (SIG) in Tracer Methodology in Metabolism that is part of the European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (www.espen.org).

Our mission is to promote the use of high quality tracer methods in clinical metabolism research in Europe.

We do this by organising a Tracer Methodology Discussion Group that meets annually in conjunction with the annual ESPEN meetings and openly discusses tracer methods with all their strenght and assumptions. We had 11 of these meetings over the years. We also organise a Tracer Methodology Course. The course is an intensive introductory course which is meant for everyone interested in tracer methodology for metabolic research and wants to learn all the details in order to be able to use it in their own research.

Tracer Methodology Course

We had our last course on April 29th and 30th, 2017 at Texas A&M Universiti in College Station, Texas, USA. The course is sponsored by ESPEN, Cambridge Isotopes Laboratories and Isotec (Sigma-Aldrich).

This year the course will be held in Maastricht, The Netherlands and hosted by Luc van Loon from NUTRIM at Maastricht University. The course will be held on 16 and 17 June and will be given by the standard faculty (Boirie, Deutz, Matthews, Rooyackers) and several local faculty from Maastricht. The program will be set soon but will be similar to previous years with lectures and plenty of workshops on calculations and presentations of tracer protocols by the participants. More info on the flyer.  The registration for the course is open and can be found here. Also this year the course in generously sponsor by ESPEN  and Cambridge Isotopes Laboratories.
