Lab technician
Me: I got my Bachelor of Science in Biology degree in 2004. I joined this research group in autumn 2007 as a lab technician.
My work: I usually don’t get in contact with the patients or volunteers from the studies being made in the clinic. My work starts, for example, when getting the plasma from the studies and to analyse them with different techniques back in the laboratory. Gas chromatograph (separating the plasma in to the different compounds) connected with a mass spectrometer (identifying the compound of interest with the mass to charge ratio) is the most common technique I run for the moment.
I also do some mitochondrial enzyme activity analysis and looking at mitochondrial respiration using an oxygraph (machine who can tell the concentration of oxygen).
